Attention NHS members! Coming up on February 23rd is a fantastic opportunity to gain some volunteer hours! Capital High School DECA is seeking volunteers who may need extra hours. They are seeking help to decorate or to help the clean-up process. Set-up begins at 10 am that Saturday in the main gym; clean-up begins at 8:45 pm that evening. Clean-up is anticipated to take an hour and a half. For more information, or to sign up, see Mrs. Murin in Room 211!
Calling all NHS members! Boise State football has just a few home football games left in the season, and they need your help at Albertson's Stadium! Volunteering will consist of post-event clean-up after the game has concluded. This is a great opportunity to gain multiple volunteer opportunities at once, especially if you're a Bronco football fan.
If you're interested in signing up, contact Mr. Watson or Mr. Georgeson to get the full details!
October has crept up on us and we are already thinking about the holidays. This year is the 35th annual Festival of Trees and we need help to make it the most spectacular Festival ever. The dates of the 2018 Festival of Trees are November 21 through November 25. We also have volunteer opportunities on Sunday, November 18 for move-in.
Revenues raised from the 2018 Festivals of Trees will help fund the expansion of the Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center's Infusion Room and new technologies like virtual reality and art therapy to help reduce pain, stress and anxiety.
The students and teachers from your school are some of our most valuable volunteers. To be able to participate and volunteer, students must be at least 14 years old. The Festival is a fun way for students to earn their community service credits and help make a difference in healthcare in your community. The students should also be encouraged to make this special event a family volunteer opportunity. We would love to have teachers volunteer, too! Please have students sign up on their own. We are asking the Students to use their personal or parent's email address and not the school email address.
Volunteer Website: www.saintalphonsus.org/volunteer-at-the-festival
The volunteer registration is available until Friday, November 2, 2018.
We will be sending out shift confirmation emails to each student. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Thank you for all of your help! We hope to see you at the 2018 Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees!
Please have students interested in volunteering register online. If there are any questions, please call Janelle 208-861-9949 or email email@example.com.
NHS Members, this is a great volunteer opportunity with lots of available spots! October 13 is the date!
"I wanted to let you know we have an upcoming project to plant around 2,000 native plants at our Boise River site as part of a partnership with the Native Plant Network, College of Western Idaho, Golden Eagle Audubon, and Idaho Fish and Game. Our goal is to improve habitat for pollinators and birds at our site (habitat for "the birds and the bees" so to speak!)
We need about 60 volunteers to really make this event a success, and we hope we can count on you! Kids and families are welcome.
For those who planted with us last time, you know that much of our soil is nice and sandy, so, while I don't promise the work will be a piece of cake, this should be a very fun, beautiful fall day in Boise!
To sign up to attend, you must fill out this google form. It has important information about the event, and will also get you signed up to receive update emails if anything changes as the date approaches. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfvVW1Jipv10PHqy7xE6arBwx3V-FqZCSjPT5pyW-nCBvnnyA/viewform
Thanks all! Please let me know if you have any questions, and feel free to pass this along to anyone you think might be interested. This would be a great project for any students who need community service hours!"
We here at the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho are in need of some volunteers for an upcoming annual charity event, that I have attached a flyer (below) for, and are in need of 10-12 volunteers to help out with various tasks. We have reached out to high schools in the past and had great success with it and were hoping for the same this.
We have an account on Sign Up Genius, under Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho, for the students to use and if you or they have any questions feel free to contact us.

The City of Trees Marathon Association, a local nonprofit, is looking for volunteers who would love to spend part of Sunday, October 14 along the beautiful greenbelt course in Boise volunteering for the 2018 City of Trees Marathon/Half Marathon. Interested volunteers can email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or an assignment.
We look forward to having you and/or your group participate in this event!
Mountain View Elementary is holding its annual Fall Carnival on Friday, September 28 from 5:30-7!
"We are always in need of volunteers to work the games. I am asking that the students come to the school at 5 and stay until the game they are working is cleaned up (usually 7:30 at the latest). We will give dinner to the volunteers, which is the reason for coming at 5. If they do not wish to be fed I would ask that they come by 5:15 so we can get them set up at the game they will be hosting. I would like a list of the students that are coming to help out so I can make sure I get enough volunteers. A couple specific volunteers that I will need are 2 that are willing paint faces. No other special skills required."
Let Mr. Watson or Mr. Georgeson know if you are interested or willing to sign up. Feel free to Mountain View's PTO President, Faith Robinett, email@example.com or 208-703-7366 with questions.
Capital NHS: There is a need for some student volunteers for our READY! Kindergarten program by babysitting children ages 1-5. There are many dates students can choose from through out the year.
The time frames are generally in the evening for 2 hrs. Dinner is included. Students who are interested in volunteering in this manner, please contact Vikki Green (info below) so that you can get set up with a schedule and the schools you would be helping at. The first date is Sept 13th.
"READY! Kindergarten is a free funded curriculum taught by certified staff to parents of children ages 0-5. We serve a meal and instruction on how the program works and then there are work shop nights for the parents. The workshops are the times when we need babysitters so that there isn't a barrier for the parents to attend."

Capital NHS members! Take a look at this fantastic opportunity to work with less fortunate youth, all online! Available all year long:
Letter from Neeraj Kapoor,
Unfortunately, for millions of kids around the United States, access to quality education is tough to come by.
That's why I started Learn To Be, a 501c3 non-profit that brings 1-on-1, online tutoring to K-12 underserved students. We work with homeless youth, foster youth, former gang members and students of otherwise struggling families. Over the last 9 years, we've hosted over 35,000 sessions for over 17,000 hours of service.
We pair these students with amazing high school students, college students and young professionals in a virtual classroom where the two work on math, science, reading and writing.
Today, I want to ask you to take your passion for education and share it with struggling youth around the nation. Click here to volunteer with Learn To Be and help these young kids in their pursuit of academic excellence. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions. Thanks!
